First Day – EOHR
The Executive Office Human Resources (EOHR) team will cover the following topics when meeting with your new hires on their first day.
- I-9 Completion
- Workday and Payroll Essentials
- UW & Executive Office Required Trainings
- Husky Card Access
- UW Resources and Helpful links
New Manager Hires
In addition to first day activities, the Associate Director of Employee Relations will schedule a supplemental meeting to discuss the resources available to them as a new UW manager.
Supervisor Tasks
Supervisors are responsible for ensuring the following onboarding tasks are completed.
- Telework Agreement:: Hybrid or 100% remote, if applicable. 100% remote requires VP-approval.
- Workplace Essentials: Distribute and set up equipment, technology, and workspace.
- Facilities Access: Enable building or workspace access. Submit a request for office keys or CAAMS access for Schmitz Hall or Gerberding Hall, if applicable.
- Systems Access: Grant access to appropriate systems and applications or programs.
- Training: Schedule or complete any department or position-specific trainings.
- Work Schedule: Develop a First Day/First Week Schedule for the employee. Properly orient your employee to your department. This could include scheduling standing team meetings and 1:1 check-ins, as well as a first-day coffee or lunch.
- Job Description: Review and confirm the new employee’s position duties and responsibilities.
- Unit Best Practices: Familiarize the new employee with the internal processes and best practices specific to your unit. For example, explain the process/route to request time off before officially submitting the request in Workday.
