Keys & CAAMS

The Building Coordinator is responsible for tracking and assigning building keys and keycard access for all doorways in Schmitz Hall and Gerberding Hall.

In case you are locked out of your building and need one-time access, outside of normal business hours, please contact the UW Police Department through their non-emergency number: 206-685-8973.

Keys

Keys for offices and doorways within Schmitz and Gerberding are inventoried and maintained by the Building Coordinator. However, the unit’s approved key holder is responsible for assigning keys to individuals they have hired and/or work with, using their discretion. Additionally, the approved key holder must keep track of who has been assigned keys.

Charges

Departmental funding is required for new key cutting, rekeying of buildings and rooms, and for locks and keys related to departmental equipment. Specifically, the cost is $15 for standard keys and $25 for high-security keys.

CAAMS

UW building electronic access is managed through the Campus Automated Access Management System (CAAMS). Please review the following bullet points regarding CAAMS building access:

  • Husky Cards: Building access is provided through active Husky Cards. These cards serve as keycards within CAAMS.
  • Temporary Cards: For non-Husky cardholders, such as vendors, contractors, and visiting scholars, temporary cards can be requested. These cards provide access to CAAMS for specific periods or projects.
  • Replacement Fee: There is a $25 fee for replacing any lost or misplaced temporary cards.

Authorized Requestors

If you would like to request keys or CAAMS/keycard access for yourself or another individual from the Schmitz & Gerberding Halls Building Coordinator, please contact your department’s designated representative. They are authorized to make these requests and grant approval.
